The general population from the city of Naples, Florida shows incredible respect for expressions of the human experience. This extends to curated art films and first rate documentaries too. This celebration of beauty and sensory experience culminates in the annual Naples International Film Festival. The film festival is a joint effort of many private and public entities and is being brought to the people through Artis Naples. The Festival is usually a three day event showcasing art films with profound themes such as existentialism, inspiring real-life stories, musicals, personal relationships and many others. There are also documentaries too. Entries come from students and amateur film makers.
The film festival is a multi-day event which features nightly parties, gala dinners where the guests can mingle with the actors and the directors associated with the films in the entry and there’s of course the screening of the films themselves.
The opening night is usually marked with a VIP red carpet and some complimentary snacks and drinks where the guests could mix and mingle and rub elbows with the film makers and producers then there will be an opening film followed by a question and answer portion on a podium by the makers of the opening films. After the premier the VIP guests can keep the night rolling with an after party with heavy appetizers, drinks, music and dancing.
Over the course of the days leading up to the closing ceremony, which is usually three days after the opening night, Artis Naples showcases the films chosen for the festival. Entries are received from all over the world with films done by people from diverse backgrounds, languages and ethnicities. There are four categories: the full length Narrative films, documentaries, short films and a special category for budding film makers from the local Florida scene. The films selected reflect the human conditions and realities that are sometimes hard to face, much less accept, but almost always the films and documentaries end with giving hope to the viewers to overcome the challenges of life.
After all the films have been shown, the festival always ends with a bang with a wrap up party. This is the culmination of all the great things that the Naples International Film Festival had shown to the people with the hope of more bigger and better celebrations to come. The closing party is always a night of food, fun and great cheer. There is always at atmosphere of gratefulness in the air during this night.
