When Christmas is around the corner, most people from this part of the world expect snow – not the people in Florida, though. One of the main reasons why the pioneers of this town were attracted to the place was the warm and inviting climate of the Sunshine State. People from all over share the same sentiments to this day. Many people from other parts of the US purchase property here that act as their second homes, others even stay here permanently. Apart from the climate, it’s the beaches and the fun holiday events that make Naples, Florida a hotspot (pun intended) for tourists and property buyers alike.

We know all about the beaches, the whole world does, but what we want for you to take a peek in are the Christmas events that happen in the town. Sometime around December, the whole town goes out to Fifth Avenue South and just blasts into this festive parade of color and music. School bands, dance troupes, girls and boy scouts, fire engines and majestic floats come into life in this annual celebration of community cohesion. People are always excited to come yearly for this spectacle.

But before Fifth Avenue parade happens, an equally traditional Christmas tree lighting ceremony would be taking place, signaling the beginning of the holiday festivities. Right after this annual spectacle, there will be live musical shows, choirs and dance troupes for everyone to see. The tree lighting ceremony is a tradition in Naples, Florida that people and visitors alike should not miss if they want to start their holidays right in Naples.

Another Christmas event that’s worth mentioning is the Tuba Christmas.  For those who do not know, the Tuba Christmas is an event that’s celebrated all over the world. In this event, traditional Christmas medleys are played by an ensemble of tuba players to give a nod to our heritage and the great honor that was given to the tuba artists by their teachers and also as a salute to all artists and players of musical instruments from all parts of the globe. The event started in 1974 when Harvey Phillips wanted to pay a tribute to his tuba teacher William J. Bell and from then on other musicians took inspiration from this and made this an annual tribute to all musical teachers who touched people’s lives through the art of music. And this celebration of music and expression of gratitude will be experienced in Naples, Florida as well, so it’s great news for all tuba players out there.

After experiencing all these events for people, you might be thrilled to see something given to all the beautiful animals of Naples Zoo as well. Naples Zoo annually celebrates its Winter Fest where animals get to open their presents too. See the lion as she claws her way open into her nicely wrapped present and meet Santa Clause and tell him all your Christmas wishes.

The holiday events can be plentiful and hectic especially for the parents. If you need someplace to check out the schedules and the places to go to this holiday season, check our website to get information.
